Mill valley council hopefuls deal with factious miller ave
Controversy
swirling around a plan to redevelop mill valley's miller avenue has motivated
several residents to find running for city council in november.
Of the
six mill valley residents who have out nomination papers so far, three garry
lion, matthew clark and larry anderson cited the miller avenue precise plan
among their chief concerns.A nice fourth, george gordon, declined to say how he
feels in plan.
Ken wachtel, a legal professional who ran a close race in
november 2005, not to mention maureen parton, an aide to county inspector
charles mcglashan, have also applied for papers.
The miller avenue
precise plan includes proposals for reasonable housing, cycling lanes, walking
pathways, upscale stores and a second town center.Players of the plan have
formed a citizens group, the chums of mill valley, which holds town hall style
birthdays monthly.
Lion, who served on the local authority or authorities
from 1986 to 1990, doesn't fit in with friends of mill valley, but joined in the
